Chris White in Italy - 2004 - 2005
In 2004 Chris White was invited to join Pensa Day in Orvieto, Italy. This event originated in July 2002 during the three charity gigs, which Mark Knopfler held in London. Mark Knopfler himself so appreciated this idea, that kindly delivered for the exhibition his “Pensa-Suhr MK-1” (serial no. 001), the legendary guitar which was firstly played during the Rock Concert for Nelson Mandela at the Wembley Stadium on 11th of June 1988. Pensa Day unites the friendship between the Pensa Guitars' friends and the people who love Mark Knopfler's music too. There are two main elements to the Pensa Days - a guitar exhibtion and a concert. The event was organized, as usual, by Marco Caviglia - the lead guitar player of the officially approved and recommended by MKNews Tribute Band Solid Rock. At its third edition - Pensa Day 2004 - the special guests were Chris White, Steve Phillips (The Notting Hillbillies) and Richard Bennett (Mark Knopfler's Band). The event included also like a guests Rudy Pensa himself and Beej - the owner of the Shangri-La Studio in LA, CA (USA).
Pensa Day 2004
Chris played with Steve Phillips, Marco Caviglia and Solid Rock so many songs like Run Me Down, Bewildered, Mississippi Blues, Good Rockin Tonight, Your Own Sweet Way, Your Latest Trick, Two Young Lovers, What It Is and Sultans of Swing of cource ( with Richard Bennett too). To the end of the concert they were joined by Terry Kilburn - the Blues Man from MKNews. He played I Think I Love You Too Much and House Rockin Boogie with Chris on sax too.
"It was awesome to hear Chris blowing those great riffs on his sax with that wonderful signature sound he creates", said Terry Kilburn in his review about the event. They made a great performance of Romeo and Juliet. It was a bit different version, including some cool "jazzy" elements to the end, performed by Chris on the sax and Primiano Di Biase on the keyboards ( a very impressive keyboard player from Italy, member of The Solid Rock TB ). Chris, Marco, Primiano and all the band just made a monument of this so beloved Mark Knopfler's song !! It was a big experience to see how Chris was so excited to play again all these wonderful songs from the old DS/NHB times...
